Summer Camp

Movement, drama, fitness, dance technique, creativity and more for kids ages 5-12!

Our summer camps are perfect for kids who like dance and drama and want both in one place. We focus on building up their technique and skills, with an emphasis on FUN! The week flies by with something new each day, including outdoor lunch breaks and even a trip to a local sprinkler park. Each week ends with a stress-free, informal show.

Registration Now Open!

When school’s out for summer, we’ve got you covered! Every camp day includes dance and drama sessions, outdoor activities, games and art projects. Along with learning technique, campers develop confidence, social skills, discipline and musicality in this structured, fun-filled program. On Fridays, the kids show off what they’ve learned throughout the week at an informal 30-minute presentation.

Each week has a unique theme, so you can sign up for multiple camps and still get a different experience. The instructional sessions are designed for all levels — perfect for kids who are new to the performing arts as well as those coming back to learn more.

Camp is held from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (with options for extended programming until 6 p.m.) at our Rittenhouse studio (1923 Chestnut St, 2nd floor) and nearby parks.

Summer Camp FAQ

If your question isn’t here, find even more studio info on our Policies page or drop us a line and we’ll be happy to help!

What should campers wear?

Anything comfortable for movement will be perfect. On extra hot days, you may want to send your child with a change of clothes in case we get sweaty doing dance fitness or running around outside. If your kids already have ballet or jazz shoes, those will come in handy, otherwise socks will work just fine. There are plenty of changing rooms at the studio.

We take the kids to a local sprinkler park on Wednesdays, weather permitting. On those days, please send your child with a bathing suit under their clothes, an extra change of clothing, sunscreen, and a small towel. We usually spend a few hours playing in the water and eating lunch outside, then change out of wet suits when we get back to the studio. If the weather calls for rain, we’ll reschedule the spray ground trip to Tuesday or Thursday.  We’ll make sure to let you know as early as possible if we need to change the normal schedule.

For Dance Intensive weeks, dance attire (leotard, tights, and dance shoes) is recommended but not required.

Can my child register for specific classes instead of the full summer camp?

Potentially. If there’s a specific style of dance you’re looking for, please contact us. We’ll let you know when we will be offering that during the camp day and we can figure out a single-class rate for your child.

What’s the policy if a camper gets sick or contracts COVID?

In an effort to help keep everyone healthy, we have protocols similar to those of the school district. If a child is sick with a fever or stomach bug, we follow the district’s “24-hour policy” and ask that you “keep them home at least for the whole next day, even if you think they are fine.”

For COVID, we follow CDC guidelines. So if a student tests positive for COVID-19, they would not be able to come to the studio for the required CDC quarantine period or until a negative test.

Other safety measures we have implemented:

  • All of our instructors/staff are vaccinated against COVID. We strongly recommend that all kids be vaccinated as well and keep note of vaccine records during registration.
  • Campers are regularly reminded to wash hands thoroughly, and are not allowed to share food.
  • Our staff disinfects all tables and high-touch surfaces on a daily basis.
  • If we learn that a camper tested positive for COVID after coming to the studio, we notify any families whose children may have been exposed. Any communication about cases is always kept anonymous.
  • We ask everyone – parents, campers and instructors – to help us reduce the spread of illness by staying home if you’re not feeling well, especially if you have symptoms that could be indicative of COVID-19.
What's the cancellation policy?

Zazz services are non-refundable. However, we understand that it can be difficult to figure out summer plans in time to take advantage of early bird registration deals, so we have come up with the following cancellation policy specific to camp purchases:

  • Camp registration fees are non-refundable.
  • If you opt out of camp before June 1, the amount paid (minus the $50 registration fee) can be credited to your account to use toward a different service or product, including kids or adult programs or even other future summer camp weeks. Cancellations should be emailed to info@phillydancefitness.com. No refunds or credits will be issued for cancelations on or after June 1.
  • If Zazz must cancel a week of camp due to low registration or an unforeseen emergency, you will be refunded in full.
  • If space is available, you may request to switch camp weeks at no charge before June 1. There is an administrative charge of $50 if requesting to transfer camp weeks on or after June 1.
