Tweens & Teens

Dance, Drama & Musical Theater for ages 9+!

Technique classes, collaborative scene work, performance opportunities and more! Ideal for older, more focused students with at least a year of dance or drama experience.

“All Stars” Program

Older students (4th graders and up) will push their talents to the next level over the course of a semester-long All Stars session. Drama All Stars rehearse a full length musical revue, while dancers elevate their technical skills and put together original choreographies. Toward the end of the session, the combined All Stars crews will share what they’ve put together at their own in-studio showcase for friends and family.

Ready to “Daydream” and get “On Broadway” with us??? Read on for details about the themes for our spring sessions!

Motivated dancers will expand their creativity as they work toward a student-driven recital. The first half of each class will focus on jazz and ballet technique through drills, passes across the floor and combinations. In the second half, the students will create and polish their own routines with guidance and coaching from the instructor.

Spring 2024 — “ON BROADWAY”

There’s always magic in the air…on Broadway! Our spring All Stars dance revue draws inspiration from some of our favorite iconic ensemble numbers from “Chicago,” “A Chorus Line,” “An American in Paris” and more.

Instructor Beverly Holskin will choreograph and direct a few routines to make sure the students get a mix of jazz, ballet and lyrical styles. Then they’ll be challenged to work with her in selecting music and developing original choreography for additional numbers. With sweeping Broadway-style routines as the theme, we’ll also have plenty of opportunities to play up stage presence and personality. So get pumped for big extensions, sparkles and ALL the pizazz!

Choose Mondays, Wednesdays, or both:

*Will be offered if there is enough interest. Please fill out this form if you would like to join on either or both days.

Young performers will take their stage presence up a notch as they put together a full production. Each class will begin with improv and vocal warm-ups. Then, the students will dive into rehearsing and staging their show, complete with props and costume elements!

Spring 2024 — “DAYDREAM”

Maybe you dream about becoming a pro athlete. Or starting your own fashion line. Or winning the school spelling bee. Or bossing your parents around!

Whatever the fantasy, this musical revue is all about chasing it! Dream big and aim for the stars in this original production featuring songs from Wicked, Shrek, Annie, Cinderella and other hit Broadway musicals. No worries if you’re not big on singing — the show will also include lots of scenes to weave the songs together. Most will be written or adapted by instructor Aliya Bowles — but students will get to add input and possibly even create a few of their own vignettes.

Choose Tuesdays, Thursdays, or both:

New this semester, we’re also running a “Rising Stars” class on Mondays at 4:15 pm where 2nd and 3rd graders can be invited to work with the older kids on a couple of ensemble numbers that will be included in the show! Contact us for more details.

Dance Technique Classes

Depending on the week, students will work on either jazz or lyrical technique, or a mix of both. Class always begins with warm-ups and conditioning, then continues with passes across the floor and combinations.

Held Thursdays 5-5:45 pm. Open to all levels.

Build up a strong foundation of classical ballet technique, focusing on body placement, turn out and coordinating port de bras (arms) with footwork. Class starts with barre work to build stamina, followed by center floor exercises and combinations, and finished off with a cool down. Prior ballet experience preferred, but focused beginners are also welcome.

This class is currently on hiatus, email us if you’re interested in attending and we will set up a new session if we have enough interest!

Also coming in Spring 2024:

  • Acting and Musical Theater classes for ages 8+
  • Show Choir for ages 7+
  • Private voice lessons

Even though these programs will be open to younger kids, we still welcome older students to join in. Depending on the afterschool rosters each day, we may be able to split out sections for 3rd graders and up.

Contact us if you’re interested in signing up for a specific youth class.
